![]() Today I had the pleasure of escorting four of our pēpi on a walk along the Clive River. We left the centre around 10am which was a good thing because I took the pēpi on a ticky tour after not turning off the expressway at the roundabout; we still arrived in good time though. We started our walk with Haelyn asleep and Cheneigh just waking up in the pushchair, Joseph walking and Ben-Jared with the luxury of being carried. It wasn’t long though before we hit a road block and decided to stop and have our morning tea. The road block was a speedboat in the river with a person braving the cold water wakeboarding behind it. Joseph was intrigued, and kept peering around the side of the pushchair to get a better look as it raced past us. Ben-Jared stood, pointed and “oohhh ohhhed” while Cheneigh ate scones and jam and Haelyn still slept. After the pēpi had finished their kai, we crept closer to the river, where Joseph kept trying to inch that much further toward the water. No fear there. Ben-Jared came at a fast crawl to join us not wanting to miss out while Cheneigh stopped to smell the yellow daisies and Haelyn slept on. The pēpi from Flaxmere Ave found us here on their way back and decided to stop and watch with us. I don’t think their walk went very far either. By this time Haelyn woke up and joined us. Then it was time to head back to the van, into the pushchair went Joseph and Ben-Jared this time and Cheneigh and Haelyn walked. Cheneigh found her shadow and started chasing it every now and again and also bent down to try and catch it. It was a fun walk back. We then climbed back into the van and set off back to Kindy, where joseph, Ben-Jared and Cheneigh slept and Haelyn looked on. Ka Kite Ano Leigh. |
