Dear parents/whanau

We are going to hold a taste testing evening to share with you some of the meals we have on our menu for your children. During this taste testing evening your children’s treasure books will also be available for you to have a good look at. I also would like to talk to you about the Ministry of Educations changes to early childhood enrolments and I will need you to complete a new enrolment form for your child so that they can continue with us. In preparation for this evening you will need to bring with you some identification for your child e.g. their birth certificate or passport…. I will also need a copy of Immunisations as well.

We hope to make this evening as pain free and enjoyable as possible.  Can you please let me know if you are going to attend so we can cater for our menu please.

Ka Kite

Leigh Morgan

What are we spending the BINGO money on?

We are still wainting for our water pump to arrive, that we have purchased usuing some of our fundraised money. This will be going in the over two area when we redevelop beside the sand pit and create a rocky stream. The children will be able to pump their own water into buckets or make dams in the stream. If you have any large rocks at home you dont want.... we will have them.

We also removed t...he river sand from tha sandpit in the under twos and replaced it with nice soft beach sand.... Oh what a difference.... their sandcastles stay together until they sit on them and its so much nicer to play with. This was also funded by some of the fundraised money on our BINGO night.

We have a few more plans yet for the redevelopment of the over two play area so please please please support us with our fundraising. Everything we get we are putting back into your childrens education.

An early morning chat in the van between Kylah-Rose and Carol...

Carol has been having some interesting conversations with the children when she does the van run.  A couple of weeks again, after it had been raining, she was driving towards Ron Giorgi Park down Stanley Street, when she heard Kylah-Rose say “Carol look at all those birds”.  There were a large number of seagulls congregated at the park.  Carol asked Kylah-Rose what she thought they were there for as we have never seen that many before.  “Do you think they are looking for food”, asked Carol, “yeah” said Kylah-Rose,” they are looking for food.”  This sparked a conversation about what type of food they could be looking for, and we decided they were looking for worms.  Carol told Kylah-Rose that rain usually brings worms to the top of the ground, and the seagulls were there to find them and eat them.

The next day the sprinklers were on at the same spot at the Park, and once again Kylah-Rose noticed all the birds.  She told Carol that all the birds were there because they were looking for worms to eat.  As there has been no more rain, or sprinklers going at the park, we have noticed no more birds looking for worms.

Process Cooking

Hope you all had a peaceful Easter break.  The children have returned and have been very busy process cooking.

While cooking, your children are learning about the relevance of maths in real life as they count out the measurements needed when following the recipe cards. They are also developing their concentration skills as they read and follow the instructions on the cards. Science also plays a role in cooking as the children experiment with using solids, liquids and powders and mix them all together to create a dough.

Today the children are making chocolate chip biscuits once they have mastered this then we hope to change the recipe…. Maybe muffins

What do your children like to eat?

Can you share a recipe with us?

So check out your children’s creations in their bag….. That’s if it makes it home yummmmmm.

Ka Kite and take care till next time

Leigh.
